childhood story

The irony of this project is that it was my inspired idea, yet I remember almost nothing from my own childhood. Perhaps I was hoping to relive my childhood vicariously through the stories of these Escuincles participants. Since I don’t have any distinct memories of my own, I encouraged Charlee to write a song about the struggles of a Latino kid living in the States.

¿Cómo contarlo?

Verso I
¿Cómo contarlo, si tu no lo has vivido?
¿Cómo explicarlo, si tu no lo has sufrido?

PRE-coro:
//¿Pero que ha pasado?
que nada ha cambiado todo esta igual. //

Verso II

PRE-coro:
//Pero que ha pasado?
que nada ha cambiado todo esta igual. //

Verso III

  How to say it?

Verse I
How to say it, if have not lived it?
How to explain it if you have not suffered it?
You’ve remained in oblivion, you hadn’t lived this

How to forget about it if it is tour past?
And how to erase it from your mind, if it is part of your present
Is like a sad story...
That makes you remember a thousand memories
Is like a sad, sad, sad story
That makes you remember your roots

Pre-chorus
But what has happened?
Nothing has changed everything is the same

Verse II
How to explain how does it feel to leave your soul
It is a piece of land that wants you back
But that you have left behind
How to explain what you feel deep inside
To live in a new world
That becomes your new home

Pre-chorus
But what has happened?
Nothing has changed everything is the same

Verse III
How to explain that in a stranger’s face
It is expressed all that you have suffered
There is no need to talk
No need to feel the cold you felt as a child
Is a cold and harsh winter that taught you to grow up

Verse IV
How to forget what you have inside your soul
Listening to a strange tongue and not knowing how to answer
How to forget when you are not part of this world
You feel like a wanderer rejected from society.
